  • About this site

WACrimeStats.net. WACrimeStats.net was developed to provide interactive query access to crime statistics collected from police and sheriff departments across the state of Washington. The crime data are collected and distributed by the Washington State Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs' (WASPC) Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Department. The web-based reporting tool was developed and is hosted and maintained by Looking Glass Analytics in Olympia, Washington.

Crime trends, rankings, and comparisons. Users of this web site can generate rankings, trend charts and data tables of local, county, and state level statistics for 28 different crime categories. Crime counts and per capita rates are available for all crime types and reporting levels. Crime counts and rates may be ranked or compared by crime type and/or by state, county, and local jurisdiction.

Special reporting on gun crime. Special reporting on crimes involving firearms is available for criminal homicides, robberies, aggravated assaults and all firearm crime combined. Firearm-related criminal homicides typically are not broken out in standard UCR reporting. However, they are calculated and incorporated into the relevant statistical reports on this website by integrating a separate UCR data set called the Supplemental Homicide File (SHF). The SHF identifies the use of a firearm in a Criminal Homicide.

Interpretation of results. Care always should be used in interpreting statistics. The results of reports generated from this web site are no exception. Please read available information on limitations of the data before making conclusions. More information is available under the menu heading Interpreting Results.

The UCR Program. UCR is a national program created and overseen by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Contribution by states and local jurisdictions is voluntary but most jurisdictions and states are nearly complete in their reporting.

Washington State UCR (WUCR). Additional information, reports, and data files from the WUCR program can be obtained at the WUCR program website.
